Ince Rose Bridge Formed March 2001

CLUB HISTORY

Background to the Club

Ince Rose Bridge Sports and Community Club was formed in March 2001 through the merger of Ince Bowling Club (established 1958) and Ince St. Williams and Rose Bridge Amateur Rugby League Clubs (both established 1978/79). The merger came from a recognition that the separate clubs had a shared vision of improved sporting and community facilities in Ince and that this would be best achieved through sharing skills and experiences and through having a louder common voice.

The Club’s activities are managed by a voluntary management committee made up of representatives from each of the three original clubs and other people with an interest in furthering the aims of the Club including Councillor Mollyneux (Club President), Gillian Ramsbottom (Headmistress of Ince C of E School and Vice President of the Club) and Phil Clarke (ex – Wigan Player and Captain and present Great Britain Team Manager). The total membership of the Club presently stands at around 1000. The Club has adopted a set of Memorandum and Articles of Association as its governing document.
